Why this formula works

 

Kukui Nut Oil
Kukui nut oil is naturally rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, with over 50% made up of linoleic and linolenic acids. Traditionally used by Hawaiians, the roasted kernels were pressed to produce a clear, lightweight oil known for its excellent skin penetration. When applied topically, it helps soften the skin and soothe sunburn and irritation. Today, it is widely regarded as a premium oil for both skin and hair care, valued for its moisturising and emollient properties.

Sacha Inchi Oil
Sacha Inchi oil supports skin health by helping to maintain the lipid balance of the epidermis. Rich in essential fatty acids, it contributes to the formation of the skin’s protective barrier, improving texture, softening the skin, and supporting anti-ageing care.

Omega 6 (Linoleic acid)
Linoleic acid is an essential omega-6 fatty acid required for overall health. When applied to the skin, it helps support the skin barrier, improves moisture retention, and may assist in reducing inflammation and acne.

Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp seed oil is naturally free from cannabinoids and is exceptionally rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid. Its composition makes it highly compatible with the skin, supporting barrier function and helping to protect against moisture loss—an ideal choice for maintaining healthy, resilient skin.

Equipment

 

Glass beaker or small jar

Glass or stainless steel stirring rod/spoon

Digital scales that go down to 0.1g

50ml glass bottle with pump or dropper

 

Method

1.      Weigh all ingredients (pushing tare at the start, and in between each ingredient) into a clean glass beaker and stir until completely blended.

2.      Pour your product into a clean bottle with a pump or dropper.

3.      Apply 3-4 drops into you hand, rub together and gently press into the face, repeating to cover the whole face. Can be used morning and night.

Suggested Alternatives: You can swap out any of the special oils (keep hemp seed oil) and make you own blend, this has been formulated with a focus on oils containing high levels of essential fats (omega 6 & 3) with the addition of Coco Caprylate or Fractionated Coconut Oil to lighten the formula.  You can choose your favourite Essential Oil.

 

Usage note

 

Because this formula is fully anhydrous (contains no water), no preservative is required. Store in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness.

Oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids can oxidise more readily, so vitamin E is included to help support stability.

As with any new skincare product, a patch test is recommended prior to use

Pure Nature: You can get all of the ingredients, except the Sacha Inchi oil from this supplier. They are based in Avondale, Auckland. Pricing is slightly higher but they have a greater choice between organic & inorganic. 

 

Go Native: You can get all of the ingredients from this supplier. They are based in Devonport, Auckland. Generally their pricing is more competitive however you have less choice between organic & inorganic with a lot of their range being organic with the higher price tag. 

 

Hemp & Co: You can make this serum using our food grade cold-pressed hemp seed oil. This gives you the added advantage of both topical application plus dietary consumption—supporting your skin from the outside and within. Rich in essential fatty acids, it’s a simple, versatile way to care for skin health daily.
